Harvard University is a great landmark in Allston, which is divided into sections, the most notable being Lower Allston.  A large part of Harvard University’s main campus lies in Lower Allston.  This small neighborhood is noted for being upscale and very safe.  It is not overly populated with students and the area retains much of its historical charm.  Harvard owns quite a bit of land in Lower Allston and has plans to be an auxiliary site for Harvard Medical School.  From long-term residents to working professionals to college students, Allston as a varied mix of people living in harmony and working together as a community dedicated to a higher quality of life.

Allston’s proximity to Harvard as creates a wide variety of activities for the neighborhood.  Plus, Harvard has a very rich and storied past.  To see the sights and experience the different aspects of Allston, it is always best to simply walk whenever possible.  The road systems in and around Boston are often very congested and parking can be a challenge.  The main thoroughfare is Harvard Avenue, with the busiest section being between Cambridge Street and Commonwealth Avenue.  Here, one can find a wide array of shops and many interesting restaurants.  A short stroll down Cambridge Street toward Union Square will take you to Twin Donuts which has a delightfully old sign marketing their product.

As mentioned, a large part of Harvard University sits in Allston, including the acclaimed Harvard Business, Harvard Medical, and Harvard Law Schools.  Harvard Stadium is also a featured attraction and site of all the home football games.  The university is one of the oldest in the country, founded in 1636 and boasts the fact that among its graduates, seven were U.S. Presidents.  Harvard also has several art museums and is considered a world leader in the arts.  The local community embraces the research centers and art museums and is a key component of their community.  A substantial portion of museum professionals around the world have been educated or impacted by the Harvard School.

This is a great environment to visit, work, and raise a family.  There is always something interesting to do.  So, it is a feather in the cap for Allston to be associated with this outstanding school of higher education, Harvard University.
